    The position is located at our office in the Houston, TX.

    The PSM Consultant - Project Lead is responsible for assisting our clients with Process Safety Management (PSM), EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) rules including Management of Change (MOC), Mechanical Integrity (MI), Process Safety Information (PSI), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and other process safety issues. Emphasis is placed on quality of the work product and the efficiency of work execution.


    The PSM Consultant - Project Lead will report to the site manager or line of service manager who will establish clear expectations in terms of work quality, efficiency, and technical development.

    To fulfill this role, the PSM Consultant - Project Lead will:

    • Provide internal and external client management and satisfaction—this is a client-facing role
    • Have effective technical communication, both verbal and written for items such as reports, emails, and presentations
    • Be responsible for the execution and management of process engineering work for all things related to pressure relief systems. E.g., revalidations, 3rd party-audits, MOC action items, PHA action items, process simulation, hydraulic simulations, dispersion analyses, preliminary or detailed design, installation support, PSSR and MOC support, etc.
    • Manage proposal, cost, and schedule development
    • Quality check work product including but not limited to engineering rationale, calculations, equations utilized, technical clarity, and compare to internal and external standards
    • Provide frontline supervision and leadership of engineers and technicians including employee development, recognition, and discipline
    • Measure performance against goals and evaluate results; achieve established metrics for self and ensure direct reports meet their metrics; address any performance issues of direct reports
    • Provide challenging and stretching tasks and assignments, hold frequent development discussions, be aware of each direct report’s career goals
    • Blend people into teams when needed; create strong morale and spirit in his/her team; share wins and successes; foster open dialogue
    • Accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; set objectives and goals; anticipate and adjust for roadblocks or issues



    The ideal candidate will have:

    • BS Chemical Engineering (Provenance Consulting may consider other engineering degrees)
    • Three or more years of relief systems engineering design experience
    • Two or more years of project management experience
    • One or more years of team lead or supervisory experience
    • EIT certification or PE license
    • Demonstrable working knowledge of API 520 Pt I/II, 521, 526, 2000, ASME VIII, ASME I
    • The unrestricted right to work in the United States
    • Process Safety Management experience and working knowledge of CFR 1910.119 (preferred)
    • PMP certification (preferred)
