    Location:

     

    The position is located at our office in the Energy Corridor of Houston, TX. Travel up to 15% of the time is possible.

    Relocation incentives may be provided for qualified candidates.

    Responsibilities

    The PSM Consultant - Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineer is expected to utilize expertise in the area of project design and implementation of I&E related initiatives. Emphasis is placed on quality of the work product and the efficiency of work execution. The I&E Consultant will report to the Site Manager or Account Manager who will establish clear expectations in terms of work quality, efficiency, and technical development.
     
    To fulfill this role, the PSM Consultant - I&E Engineer will:

    • Generate proof testing procedures and Independent Protection Layers ( IPLs) narrative documents for new or modified instrumented IPLs identified during a PHA
    • Generate project design packages, develop cost estimates and project scopes, and facilitate general project preparation and implementation for Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) related initiatives
    • Develop and manage project under leadership of site team lead
    • Generate and issue reports to client
    • Act as liason with third party contract personnel
    • Coordinate and perform field tagging and ensure CAD updates
    • Be client-facing, having a proven record of building and maintaining positive and professional client relationships
    • Conduct high level quality checking
    • Oversee the generation and issuance of final deliverables to the client or Project Lead, ensuring that a quality control process has been developed, implemented, followed, and tracked during generation of final deliverables
    • Interpret data from piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDSs), process flow diagrams, plot plans, piping isometrics, and mechanical design information
    • Interpret data from electrical one line diagrams, motor schematics, and other electrical drawings
    • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and plant guidelines (for example, following guidance regarding working in and around electrical equipment)
    • Understand and comply with all Provenance and client safety procedures that govern the work being performed

       

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • An instrumentation degree or an engineering degree
    • Two or more years of experience in I&E within a petrochemical plant or refinery
    • Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and industry standards and recommended practices (API, NFPA, ASME, etc.), preferred
    • The ability to organize, prioritize, and execute a heavy work load
    • The ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means, and able to adapt communication to best reach the intended audience within or outside the organization
    • The unrestricted right to work in the United States
