    Through innovation and technology, Provenance Consulting provides information management systems and services that track, monitor, verify, and sustain data that personnel use in the operation of oil, gas, and chemical plants and facilities. We specialize in process safety management, software implementation, and custom software development. We not only implement and maintain information systems and processes, but we build the foundation of these systems to ensure the data utilized is accurate.




    This position is located in Freeport, TX (45 minutes south of Houston) with possible work at other locations.  Travel up to 10% of the time is possible.


    The AutoCAD Technician is responsible for preparing technical drawings, to include piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), piping isometrics, and equipment plot plans.  Additionally, the AutoCAD Technician will be required to perform field verification of drawings.  The AutoCAD technician will work at the direction of Engineers and Project Leads.  Emphasis is placed on quality of the work product and the efficiency of work execution. 


    The AutoCAD Technician will report to a Site Lead who will establish clear expectations in terms of work quality, efficiency, and technical development.


    To fulfill this role, the AutoCAD Technician will:

    • Generate/update (using AutoCAD) P&IDs, plot plans, and piping isometrics for piping and fixed equipment
    • Read and interpret engineering terminology and symbols
    • Ensure drawings are up to CAD standards on a client by client basis
    • Field verify plot plans, inspection isometrics, relief device/flare isometrics, and P&IDs
    • Capture digital images of equipment (vessels, PSVs, instrumentation, piping, etc.) based upon plot plans, isometrics, or P&IDs
    • Quality check and provide course correction
    • Oversee and provide final deliverables to the Project Lead
    • Provide effective communication to engineering personnel
    • Work with various software applications to assist with drawing management system coordination
    • Train and provide guidance to newer employees as necessary
    • Comply with all Provenance and client safety procedures that govern the work being performed


    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Three or more years’ CAD experience, preferred
    • High school diploma or a two year degree from an accredited college or university
    • Experience with P&IDs, piping isometrics, and plot plans, preferred
    • One to three years’ experience in a petrochemical plant or refinery, preferred
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2010 or more recent
    • Experience with MicroStation a plus
    • The ability to climb ladders and platforms up to 50 feet with a harness and lanyard
    • The ability to work outdoors in warm, hot and cold conditions
    • Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and industry standards and recommended practices (API, NFPA, ASME, etc.), preferred
